The purpose of this study is to examine elementary school students¡¯ addiction to the Internet and counseling cases. According to a survey on Internet addiction (2010) by the National Information Society Agency, 99.8% of elementary school children are using the Internet and 10.3% of children are addicted to the Internet. Children addicted to the Internet are experiencing difficulties in their life. Internet addiction is a serious problem for elementary school children as Internet overuse cases suggest. Counseling was conducted based on prior research on Internet addiction treatment programs. Through counseling children tried to solve the problem of Internet overuse. In the counseling, Internet usage habits and conflicts with parents were examined. The children were trained for good habits of using the Internet. As a result, Internet usage was reduced and it was found that dealing with emotion was a very important factor. It was also found that proper attention and cooperation of parents are crucial for changes in the children. The limitation of this study is that fundamental desires and emotions leading to Internet overuse were not fully examined.
